Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: To understand morphology, anatomy, biology, and ecology of Phylla and other important taxa. To learn current phylogeny of Eukaryotes and especially "invertebrate" Metazoans. Knowledge about important and common species in the Czech Republic and their ecology and distribution.
Learning outcomes
Students will gain ability to: - describe current phylogeny of Eukaryotes and particularly "invertebrates" - understand morphology, anatomy, biology and ecology of individual taxa at various systematic levels - know practical importance of selected animal species with a focus on important species of the Czech fauna

  • 1. Introduction, principles of taxonomy and phylogeny, phylogeny of Eukaryotes, Kingdoms: Amoebozoa, Rhizaria, Excavata 2. Kingdoms: Chromalveolata, Opisthokonta - introduction 3. Metazoa - introduction, "Porifera", Ctenophora, Placozoa, Cnidaria, Myxozoa 4. Ectoprocta, Entoprocta, Cycliophora, Gnathostomulida, Micrognathozoa, Syndermata 5. Gastrotricha, Platyhelminthes 6. Mollusca, Brachyozoa, Chaetognatha, 7. Nemertea, Sipuncula, Annelida 8. Nematomorpha, Nematoda, Scalidophora 9. Onychophora, Tardigrada, Arthropoda - Pycnogonida, Euchelicerata 10.
