Swinging rings 2 – Turn 180 degrees in front long swing
After taking off from the ground, the gymnast performs fast flexion in the hips that rises the legs up. The gymnast performs a turn just before reaching the highest point of the front long swing by turning his feet which is followed by the hips and shoulders. The body moves from the position of hip flexion to the arched position.This is followed by another front long swing with a turn to the opposite direction to uncross the rings cables.
The gymnast performs a turn around the vertical axis of the body, which starts with the impulse of the lower limbs. This rotation then moves through a kinematic chain of body segments from the hips to the shoulders. Spreading the lower limbs at the turn increases the moment of inertia of the body and slows down the rotational movement. Execution of the turn is not mechanically possible without simultaneous transition from the hip flexion position to the arched position.
