Swinging rings 3 – Bent arms hang in front long swing
The gymnast is in a arched position after his feet together have taken off the ground during the front long swing. This is followed by a forward swing of the lower limbs, which will make it easier to perform the pull-up at the highest point of the front long swing. The body is slightly shifted in front of the plane of the cables, the rings are next to the shoulders.
The gymnast primarily uses momentum transfer to facilitate the pull-up. The lower limbs swinging from the arched to the flexed position at the hips have a certain amount of momentum. As the body is strengthened and the lower limbs stop moving relative to the trunk, their upward momentum is transferred to the trunk, thus raising it higher. At this moment, the gymnast can perform the pull-up with less force than he does in the standing pull-up.
- Wrong timing of the pull up.
- Slow swing forward of the legs during the pull-up.
