The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The exam assesses student´s ability to
understand specialized texts/discourse
identify key ideas
formulate key ideas
transfer information from the text
talk on common topics and those related to their field of study
use argumentation
summarize a simple text related to their field of study
classify, descibe cause and effect, compare, define
Learning outcomes
Exam verifies these skills:
Ability to understand a spoken utterance containing simple factual information; to understand the main idea and significant details.
Ability to understand main ideas of simple factual texts, to find there significant details, to follow logical connections and coherence within such type of texts.
Knowledge of specific and academic vocabulary, and grammar structures at B1 level according to CEFR (direct questions, transition phrases, sentence transformation).
Capability of written communication in home or foreign academic environment (regarding an internship, collaboration with a foreign partner institution, course requirements, etc.)

  • 2.Oral part:
  • The exam assesses student´s ability to communicate in English and to talk on specific topics related to their field of study with the use of functional language. Students pick one of the following questions: 1. Define two terms from your field of study and support them with relevant examples. 2. Present a (controversial) problem related to your field of study. 3. Describe and explain a process / notion / experiment within your field of study. 4. Compare and contrast phenomena from your field of study. 5. Classify systems in your field of study. 6. Describe a cause and effect relationship from your field of study. 7. Speculate on an issue from your field of study.
