Course objectives
The exam assesses student´s ability to
understand specialized texts/discourse
identify key ideas
formulate key ideas
transfer information from the text
classify, describe cause and effect, compare, define
summarize an advanced text related to their field of study
present a specialized text related to the field of study using advanced presentation techniques
discuss common topics and those related to their field of study
talk about one´s field of study using topic-based vocabulary
use argumentation
Learning outcomes
The exam verifies that the stutdent has:
Ability to understand the main idea of a spoken utterance at a more advanced level(e.g.: part of a lecture, an interview) regarding both specific and more abstract topics within an academic context.
Knowledge of specific and academic vocabulary, and grammar structures at B2 level according to CEFR (direct/indirect questions, transition phrases, word formation, sentence transformations).
Ability to understand main ideas of simple specialized texts, to find there synonyms, to follow logical connections and coherence within such type of texts, and to find the author’s stance.
Ability to use functional language in a specialized written text (classify, describe cause and effect, compare, define).
Ability to present a specialized topic related to the field of study using advanced presentation techniques
discuss common topics and those related to their field of study
talk about one´s field of study using topic-based vocabulary

  • Presentation of a specialist text related to the field of study - own choice, or presentation related to own project - 10 minutes with using visual aids and all presentation techniques + discussion (structure: introduction, main body with signalling devices, ending including summary).
