- Parts of the final state examination and its contentThe final state examination is oral, and it consists of the master’s thesis defence and the oral examination in education and psychology, Czech language and literature with didactics and mathematics with didactics. An optional part of the final examination is an oral examination in a foreign language with didactics (English, German, French or Russian language).
The examination in education and psychology consists of two parts: educational and psychological. The level of application skills is tested during the presentation of a student’s portfolio when teaching experience is reflected and theorized.
The content of the examination in Czech language corresponds to the structure of compulsory subjects. A language part of the examination in Czech language and literature covers basic theoretical knowledge of the contemporary Czech language disciplines and their didactic application. A literary part consists of three sections: a literary-scholarly and literary-educational text analysis, a literary-historical part and a didactic part.
In mathematics with didactics, students answer a question from the professional mathematics theory, which is an integral theoretical basis of mathematical subject matter at the first stage of the elementary school. Next, they perform a methodological and didactic analysis of a particular task while pointing out links to the theoretical mathematical basics and explain how to use the task for the development of the pupils’ key competences.
During the examination in a foreign language, students demonstrate their language and didactic knowledge and skills. Using their portfolios, they explain the main principles of foreign language teaching and learning in pupils at the first stage of the elementary school and demonstrate the application of these principles with examples from their teaching practice. The examination is administered in a foreign language.
